After a comprehensive rebuild and restoration project, it’s hard to find a more impressive location than Christchurch Town Hall.

Recognised as one of Christchurch's most recognisable pieces of architecture, Christchurch Town Hall is one of New Zealand’s premier performance and events venues. Spaces include the celebrated Douglas Lilburn Auditorium, the James Hay Theatre and three large event spaces in the Limes Room, Avon Room and Victoria Room.

With further construction of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra Block, the rebuild and restoration was completed in August 2019.

The management of this multi-purpose facility has been designed with technology that allows Vbase, who manage the venue, to control access to all the over 100 doors across the auditorium, theatre, function rooms and CSO block. The Inner Range Integriti Access management system, chosen by Vbase and installed by Cobalt, provides smart logic that prepares each venue for its purpose and allows the public to take their seats before closing all doors ready for functions to begin. Re opening all auditorium and venue exit points to allow simple crowd dispersing. 90 Hi Definition Panasonic cameras are strategically and discretely placed for the event team to be able to effectively control a wide variety of guests, efficiently and safely during their visit to the venue.

Cobalt Security Team has been working on this project for 3 years having originally started the Technology upgrade in 2010, only to be halted by the Christchurch Earthquakes.

The re-development of the Christchurch Town Hall is something we have been proud to have been part of.
